Doyle and I sumped about 5 gallons each and it run pretty good in your car. You know, for $250.00 a month, a company should furnish gas. -Harold Maxwell (7/10/09) D D WILLHITE Station agent seniority date of 4/12/56, emp# 09414, MED, on the 1/1/86 FL/ALEA seniority list. -Jake Lamkins (7/13/09) I began my Airline career at FSMCN. Doyle Wilhite began exactly 6 months prior to me. I recall one day in 1957 when one of the DC3 flights arrived with a lady and couple of very small children bound for HRO. As no flights were to go to HRO until at least the next day, Doyle said, "Ken, if you will go with me, we will drive her to HRO." It was still early in the afternoon and both of us were going off duty so we loaded the passengers in Doyle's brand-new 1957 Chevy and headed out. I do not think Doyle had ever been to HRO and I know that I had not been beyond FYV in that direction. After leaving FYV we were surprised at the fine gravelled Ark State Hwys 45 and 68 (now US 412). The route was not paved at that time but in excellent gravel condition due to the fact we were travelling through Madison County, home of the (at that time) Governor of Ark, Orval Faubus (a Madison County native). After a couple of pit stops due to the children, we arrived HRO where the lady was met by her family and Doyle and I returned directly to FSM, arriving well after dark. I should mention that this was typical of Doyle, always willing to help someone when he could. -Ken Stewart (7/22/09) Posted at the FL Club Updated memorial webpage DOYLE WILLHITE 1956 - 1986 STATION AGENT FSM LAS http://LAMKINS.tripod.com/Doyle_Willhite.html Found new pix for him. -Jake Lamkins (10/16/09) I worked with Doyle in FSM. He was affectionately known as Doyle Dean the dancing dog. If my memory serves me right Pig Pen tagged him with that name after a night at "The Office". To say the least Doyle was an interesting guy. I remember one night he and Ron Rogers were stopped on Rogers Ave. Ron was driving but Doyle decided to take matters into his own hands and proceeded to tell the cop that he was from Paris AR and knew the police chief there personally and that he would have his badge. Doyle spent the night in jail. -Joe Keys (10/26/09) Yep, Doyle was quite a guy. Myself and Dave Grober went to Hawaii with him and our wives. Doyle was getting the car from Hertz and the girl asked him for his address as his drivers license just had general delivery. Doyle told her to stand in the middle of town and holler real loud and someone there would know him. -Paul Farris (10/26/09)
