A little sad news this morning, if you haven't already heard.... Wanda Norton Hollis' husband, Jack, died back before Christmas. The 23rd I think she said. He had Alzheimer's and she'd nearly put herself into an early grave trying to be his full-time caregiver. She apparently got so run down that she spent 8-weeks in the hospital herself and then 3-4 more in rehab recovering. It was during that time somewhere that Jack went to Hospice and died. From her brief note it sounded like she might have even still been in the hospital herself when he passed but I don't know that for sure. You have more contact with our classmates than I do....if you'd pass the word I'm sure Wanda would appreciate it. Her son, Paul, is home helping and she has a good circle of friends and neighbors in her support group too. She's planning to sell their home and explore assisted living somewhere. -Don Hill (1/15/19) I have been notified that Wanda passed away. Not sure of the exact date. -Martha Chadwick Lindvall (1/29/19) Let me know if you hear more. -Bill Lamkins (1/29/19) This is what I received from Doug -Martha Chadwick Lindvall Good Afternoon All.... Well, you just never know. I had written you all about Wanda Norton-Hollis' husband, Jack, finally losing his battle with Alzheimer's. He'd passed back before Christmas and Wanda, herself, had been hospitalized for several weeks during his final weeks. She was home, finally, and son, Paul, was there to help with his dad's funeral arraignments from Washington where he works for Amazon. I had just returned her email with best wishes from several former classmates and I got this today from Paul: Hello, This is Wanda's son, Paul. Mom passed away on Wednesday morning, the 23rd. She was hospitalized on Monday. I was just going thru her email to sort out her affairs and saw that you were a classmate. Thought you should know and if you could pass the news to any others that would be much appreciated. Thank you, -Paul Hollis (1/30/19) Thanks for letting me know. -Bill Lamkins (1/30/19) MHS Facebook - Club Our classmate Wanda Norton Hollis has died. She was in a rehab there in North Little Rock and (out of the blue) called me wanting some sort of a memorial be made at our church here in Malvern. This to be 'by Wanda Norton Hollis'. I was successful getting this done before our January Echo (news letter) was published and had it listed. The next Monday I mailed a copy to Wanda and never had a reply from her. I had let her phone number get away from me and TODAY was going to call the rehab for a contact number. And Bill Lamkins notice was posted. I would really like for Paul to know about this. The 2 deaths were one month apart... -Nell Walters Snyder (1/30/19) She was blessed with humor. She could make us laugh so much -June Helms Stevens (1/30/19) Prayers for her family!!
